In the Shadow of Drums

Short form fictional film.
Duration: 14:56

This film was created as part of the Get Lit Festival 2011, an annual literary and art driven event in Spokane WA. The film was a piece of a larger project requested by the City of Spokane, which involved six other local visual artists besides myself and my team, and had subjects ranging from language to native storytelling.
We chose veterans issues as the subject of our film because we wanted to shed light on the reality of war and it's affects on the individual soldier.

There was also a physical art installation that reflected and represented this film after it debuted, at the opening night of the projects displayed, at the Chase Art Gallery at Spokane City Hall, in March of 2011.

A short story about how war effects us as individuals. A young soldier comes into WWII late, just before the Battle of the Bulge in December of 1944. He is sent out on a patrol with a Sergeant who has been in the war from the beginning to scout the enemy positions. He finds out that the enemy isn't any different than he is.

Below are some screen shots from the film.
